When a private developer approached us with an opportunity to design a prototype for an indoor play area, we sought to preserve the openness and flexibility of the existing space with an idea around unstructured play and learning in the absence of a programme. The concept was to develop a single “island” of play surfaces that can facilitate a wide variety of activities – climbing, building, sliding, dancing, hiding, drawing etc.
